					<description>Hi Severnites!
Thanks for your comment on our blog, it's great indeed to see you there. We have been hoping that Severnites would also rise up against the Severn Barrage: we have been fighting a Ribble Barrage for the past couple of years and so have undertaken a great deal of research into the impact of barrages. Please feel free to plunder our site for any info which will be useful to you, and our sister site The Ribble Cycle Diaries.

Our campaign has been successful to date as we have increased awareness of why intertidal rivers are important, and have recently persuaded the primary council (Preston City Council) pursuing the Barrage to take it off the agenda. We are not going away though as we wish to make sure it STAYS off the agenda, and there are some parties still saying they wish to pursue the Ribble Barrage option.

Our Blog has been fantastically useful for getting information out to local people and we wish you all the best with your campaign. We will link to your blog and pass the word around too.

Tidal Lagoons or similar schemes, and wave buoys, seem to us the best way forward for water-based renewable energy: how can the pro-barragers justify schemes which purport to be helping to SAVE the environment if they are merely destroying another part of the environment to make it?! Madness!

Long Live the Severn Wild!

Best wishes,

Jane Brunning,
